Everything people ask before switching. If your question is not here, email [email protected] and a person will answer.
Making the switch
What exactly are you replacing my WordPress site with?
A static site. Instead of software that builds your page from a database every time someone visits, your finished pages just sit ready on a fast, secure network and load almost instantly. Same site to your visitors, far faster and safer underneath.
Will my new site look the same as my old one?
It can look the same, cleaned up, or noticeably better, whichever you prefer. We rebuild from your current site as the starting point and adjust from there until you are happy with the preview.
Will my site go down during the switch?
No. We build the new site separately and only point your web address at it once you approve the preview. Your current site stays live the entire time.
How long does it take?
You get your rebuilt site on a private preview link in about five business days. Any changes you request after that, and gathering better photos if we need them, can add a little time.
Owning your site
Do I own my website?
Yes. Your website is always yours. If you ever decide to leave, we hand you the finished files so you can take them elsewhere. We keep customers by doing good work, not by locking them in.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your site comes down from our hosting, but the work belongs to you. We give you the finished files so nothing is lost and you are never held hostage.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Plans are month to month and you can cancel anytime. If you prefer not to be billed monthly, you can pay annually and get two months free.
Edits and updates
How do I make changes to my site?
You email us. Text changes, new photos, updated hours or prices, a new section, a blog post: describe what you want and we make it, usually within a business day or two depending on your plan. There is no dashboard to learn.
What does unlimited updates actually cover?
The everyday changes a living website needs, handled one at a time at a fair pace. Brand-new projects like a full redesign, an online store, or a booking system are their own thing and we quote those up front so you always know the cost first.
Can I still have a blog?
Yes. Blogs work great as static sites. We move your existing posts across, and you can send us new ones to publish anytime.
Speed, security and being found
Why is a static site faster?
Because the work is already done. A WordPress page is assembled fresh on every visit, which takes time. A static page is finished and waiting, so it appears almost immediately.
Why is it more secure?
There is nothing to break into. No plugins, no database, no server software running your site, and no login page to attack. Most WordPress hacks come in through an out-of-date plugin, and we simply do not have any.
Will this help me rank on Google?
Speed is one of the things Google measures when it ranks pages, and faster, cleaner sites tend to do better. We cannot promise a specific position, but we build every site to give you the best possible technical footing.
Pricing and billing
How much does it cost?
A one-time setup fee of $99 to rebuild your site, which covers up to ten pages and fifty blog posts, then a monthly care plan starting at $199. Larger sites are quoted up front before you pay anything.
Why a monthly fee?
A website needs hosting, security, monitoring, backups and edits over time. The monthly plan is us handling all of that for you, so you never have to think about it. It is peace of mind, not a rental.
Are there any surprise charges?
No. Everyday updates are included in your plan. Bigger new projects are quoted and approved before we start, so the only thing on your bill is what you agreed to.
Domains
Do I need to move my domain?
No. Your domain, your web address, stays where it is. We simply point it at your new site and handle the technical part for you.
What if I do not know who controls my domain?
That is common, and we help you figure it out. We have a plain-English guide to checking, and we will walk you through it. The one thing we need is that you, or someone you trust, can get into the account where the domain lives.
